For those of us that had our children out of wedlock and lost them during the baby scoop era, many questions arise about the fathers of our babies. Ontario has opened the adoption records that have been sealed since 1927 and kept under the jurisdiction of the Registrar General. Like many other moms I applied for my son's birth certificate and his adoption order. What I received was worse than an amended birth certificate. I received a Statement of Live Birth...but it was all redone in someone else's handwritting. The only thing that was in my handwritting was 1. my signature 2. my address., everything else was illegally written in by persons unknown.  Seems to me that they tampered with the legal document I filled out but for some reason beyond me it was ok for them to submit a legal document illegally.

The section where the father's name was, magically disappeared  only to be replaced by blank spaces.  Strange as it may be, I was always under the assumption that a legal document cannot be changed.  This leads me to believe we must all be similar to the Virgin Mary and conceived our babies by the Holy Spirit, and they said we weren't virgins.
